Bridging the gap between legal services providers and law firms

The legal tech market is saturated with options, making it difficult for law firms to find the right fit. Aptivos was born from this need, offering a unique content curation platform that takes the guesswork out of tech decisions, allowing law firms to make better-informed choices when deciding on products or service providers for their enterprises.

The challenge

A user-centered legal community, ensuring maximum visibility among law firms

The client envisioned simplifying the legal tech selection process for law firms by bringing legal services providers and law firms together in one network. Initially, the platform aimed to mimic the simplicity of early content management systems, focusing on ease of use for both tech providers and legal professionals. Balancing user-friendly features with the legal industry's advanced operational demands proved challenging. Aiming to cater to law firms across the UK, the team faced the various tasks of ensuring a seamless, secure user experience while expanding its features.

What we did

Taking the lead on content production, the client tasked us with A to Z web development. Our goal was to create a comprehensive legal community that encompasses every aspect of the legal social network, including front-end design, back-end functionality, hosting solutions, and analytics. Another objective was to boost productivity and ensure the highest level of platform security. After a thorough review of different technology solutions, we decided to incorporate the StackOverflow model, allowing the team to design a community that benefits both law firms and legal services providers. Xerx® identified the client’s goals in scalability and then proceeded to implement the next solutions to address the client’s plan:

  • Developed a comprehensive platform targeting legal firms (consumers) and a diverse range of service providers (software, online services, expert articles, and opinion pieces).
  • Implemented advanced filtering options on the provider's page to enable easy navigation by type and category.
  • Enhanced the platform with additional features to foster a community among users, including a news section aggregating tweets from all service providers , an interactive forum for user engagement and discussion, an events calendar for industry-specific events, job posting board for career opportunities within the legal sector.
  • Transformed initial concepts from two basic PDF pages into a fully functional, aesthetically pleasing website.
  • Conducted extensive design and development work to bring the project to fruition.
  • Provided crucial advice on business logic to ensure the platform's relevance and usability to its target audience.
  • Implemented ongoing maintenance and support services post-launch.
  • Integrated analytics to monitor user engagement and platform performance, enabling data-driven decision-making.

For this project, we chose to use Firebase. This comprehensive service suite provided everything the project needed, including a scalable database, reliable hosting, an authentication service, and storage solutions for static assets such as photos, documents, and backups. It also offered a remote server for various functions and an API. Leveraging Google's infrastructure, we ensured the platform operated quickly and reliably. Additionally, the application's structure and its interaction with the database were carefully designed to be cost-effective, taking full advantage of Firebase's robust offerings to maximize efficiency and performance.
